Modern Wizard

For some special occasions it may be appropriate for me to appear in modern garb. Here are some examples:

The lights dim as the mentalist stepped into the spotlight. He seemed to be able to actually read the minds of audience volunteers. At one point he let a spectator flip through a travel book to select a European city map. Using the map she determined the tour she would take through the city.  The mentalist named the city she selected was able to correctly describe her entire tour - point by point. He even knew the license plate number of a car pictured there. Later another volunteer used a Ouija board to spell out a word that she was thinking of. Letter-by-letter the mentalist revealed her word. Then the Wizard set his watch and held it over his head. Several audience members worked together to select a random time. The wizard's watch matched the time they named. As a climax the mayor (or other celebrity) showed a letter she received in the mail three days earlier. In the envelope was a prediction of today's newspaper headline.

As you sat around your dining table with some folks you had just met, conversation seemed difficult. Suddenly there was a delightful interruption as a Wizard stopped by to perform some tricks. After a few amazing feats, he moved on to another table, leaving you bewildered. "How did he do that?" you asked your table mates. Now you all had a common experience to start the conversation flowing. From that point on table-talk was scintillating.

It was fun to see the variety show with diverse performers; but a highlight was the magical Master of Ceremonies. To open the show he dazzled us by producing a real bowling ball from a thin attaché case. Then between some of the acts he surprised us with other short bits of magic.

The grand opening of a new store with lots or merchandise; but nothing really new. Yet the store visit was exciting thanks to the magician who entertained. He even used some of the store products as props and another effect highlighted the store's logo. It was indeed an exciting grand opening.
